Our Services
Video Otoscopy will be used to allow both you and your hearing professional to see deep inside your ear canal. You can view live color images of both your ear canal and your eardrum. It will be used to detect developing conditions that could require medical attention. One of the most common hearing difficulties is caused by cerumen (ear wax) accumulation. The video otoscope presents a clear picture of wax and its possible effect on your hearing.
Ear Wax Removal may be performed by your hearing care expert if the video otosccopy reveals that the hearing difficulties you are experiencing could be the result of ear wax impaction.
Audiological Testing will be performed in a sound-treated booth. You will listen through small, comfortable earphones as your licensed hearing care professional presents pure tones and words to each ear. You will respond by pushing a button and repeating the list of words. Bone conduction thresholds will then be obtained. These procedures provide our staff with a foundation of information regarding the type, degree, configuration, and symmetry of your hearing loss.
Tympanometry may be performed. This procedure evaluates the mobility of the eardrum and the bones behind the eardrum. It assists in determining if a hearing loss may be medically or surgically treatable.
Hearing Aid Consultation/Demonstration will be performed if your hearing testing revealed that hearing aids could improve your ability to communicate in your specific listening environments. Our expert hearing care team will help you identify any listening situations which cause you difficulty and in which you would like to improve your ability to hear your friends, family, and co-workers.
After identifying your specific hearing care needs and listening goals based upon your particular environment, our caring professionals will discuss available hearing aid technologies and styles available to help alleviate the effects of your untreated hearing loss. You will be given the opportunity to experience better hearing with demonstration hearing devices which are programmed specifically to your prescription. A risk free trial is available if you wish to be fitted with new technology. This allows you to wear the hearing devices home and experience better hearing in your normal everyday environments with absolutely no risk.
Hearing Loss Simulation technology allows us to filter conversational speech through a specific hearing loss in order to demonstrate to family members and loved ones how the patient's hearing loss affects what they hear during a conversation. Many times a person with a hearing loss complains that other people are mumbling. Hearing loss simulation lets others experience how difficult it is to understand conversational speech when a significant hearing loss is present as well as why some sounds/voices are heard better than others.
Hearing Aid Services include free cleaning and checking of all brands of hearing devices. Repairs and adjustments are available for most makes and models. We recommend periodic hearing screening to determine if your devices need to be re-adjusted to your changing hearing levels. We also suggest that you come in quarterly for a free hearing aid cleaning and check so that we can help keep your hearing devices working at their best.
Testing children may involve visual reinforced audiometry or play audiometry. During this testing, young children are taught to respond to the test sounds by rewarding the child's response to the test sound. Children love watching our dancing bears and pink elephants. Other special tests are also used in evaluating children's hearing.
Balance Testing may be completed upon your physician's referral if you have dizziness or balance problems. Dizziness can be a symptom of a variety of health disorders. Although your balance system is located primarily in the inner ear, it is connected with the brain and brainstem, the eyes, and the sensory nerves throughout your body. By stimulating the nervous system in various ways that usually affect balance, and then carefully measuring your eye movements, we can learn much about any abnormalities in your vestibular system. This information enables your physician to develop an accurate diagnosis and treatment program. Your physician will determine which balance tests to order depending on your history and symptoms.
